How do you like them apples?

Yeah for fall! This past weekend we went apple picking – a family tradition. It was a beautiful day. We were up early for a 8:15 soccer game for William. (his team won!) Then we headed home, changed, got back into the car and drove up to Carlson's Orchard in Harvard, Ma.  This year we picked Honeycrisp, Cortland + Gala apples. Perfect for yummy apple crisp.

Storyland

I totally forgot to post my photos from Storyland. I uploaded my photos to my flickr account and my facebook account but not here. The highlight for Davis was meeting Cinderella. Which was also the highlight for me as well. Oh -  she was so excited to see her. When we got to her castle Davis threw up her arms and squealed. It was so adorable. I was so happy for her.

I have a couple of shows coming up so I have been busy preparing for them. Hopefully I will start posting more. I just need to get my mojo back :)

More Custom Gocco Ribbon

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I worked on three new ribbon orders. This one I actually finished last week, but I've been sick with that horrible cold/flu that has been going around... so I never made it to the post office. I recreated Samantha's logo for her. I think the ribbon came out terrific. Go check out her Etsy store. Great baby stuff.

Last night we watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Can you believe it? It's not even Thanksgiving and the holiday shows are already appearing on TV. I have to keep my eye out for the Rudolph show. Davis just loves Clarissa, Herbie the Dentist and all the other reindeers. Has anyone else been watching Christmas shows already?

Today we are heading into town to see the Belem, the French Tall Ship. It's hanging out at Rowes Wharf. I think the kids and Neal's mum, who is here visiting, will love seeing the boat. Hope everyone has a fantastic and relaxing weekend.

stop + smell the peonies

Here is Davis in my side garden checking out my bed of peonies. They have just exploded this past week. I keep cutting the blooms and bringing them inside to enjoy. I think I love peonies as much as I love liliacs!

Here's William + Davis on their last day of school. Just look at those faces... could they get any cuter? (hey, i'm their mum, what do you expect me to say :)

The school brought in a petting farm and held a picnic on the playground on the last day of school. Naturally, the kids were just enamored with the bunnies and ducklings. I was hyper sensitive about them petting the animals and then putting food in their mouths. I kept thinking... how smart is this to have food and animals in the same place?? But the kids were really very good about wiping their hands everytime they touched the animals. (the entire night of drilling this ritual into their heads really sunk in!)

Oh, we saw Kung Foo Panda last weekend. Very cute. If anyone was curious... it's perfectly safe for small kids. Davis still doesn't sit still in a theater but she's getting better.

Today we're celebrating Davis's birthday at school even though her real birthday isn't till the end of July. I really wanted her to feel special, as every little + big birthday girl should :) I can't recall where I first saw these cuppie cakes...but I loved the idea - (maybe martha stewart?) and decided, despite the heat (it's 90 degrees here) and Davis's teacher requesting popsicles, that I would make these. I know the kids will love them.

Do you know how hard it is to find coloured jimmies + basic lollipops? Seriously, I went on a manhunt. I checked out CVS (the Consumer Value Store), Walmart, our supermarket, the local cake supply shop, and no one had coloured jimmies or basic flat lollipops. I even went to the post office to ask them where they buy their lollipops. (they keep a basket of pops out for the kids) but, just my luck, they had closed for lunch. Thank goodness for Trader Joes – they carry these organic pops that worked out just perfectly. I settled for coloured sprinkles instead of jimmies.

I also made a poster with all sorts of photos of Davis and a little spiral book. I'll post those tomorrow. Today after school Davis and I are off to the city for a girl's day of beauty. Stay cool everyone. It's really a hot one.

Packing + Shipping

Mailed three packages out in the beginning of the week and have three more to do today. I think wrapping and packaging up stuff is one of my favorite things to do. For some reason, I get so much satisfaction from it. Silly I know :)

I can't believe tomorrow is May 1st. How fast is this year going? I feel like it was just February. Anyone else feel that way?

Another Custom Ribbon Order

Just finished this custom ribbon order this past Friday for the lovely + talented Mary Ann over at A Very Mary.  She ordered this ribbon for her grandmother who makes handmade quilts. (is she sweet or what?) She is planning on them being tags. For those of you who are interested, (I get a lot of emails asking this) she'll be able to cut out @ 150 tags from this spool of ribbon. Not bad :) You can order ribbon by emailing me directly or by visiting my etsy store.

It's a cold and rainy day here. But I'm not going to complain. We had such great weather last week. Plus, the rainy weather allowed me to read more of my book while waiting to pick up Davis from School. (normally I chat it up with the other mums while the kids run around in the playground, but this time I sat in my car and read) Over the weekend I finished reading, "The Curse of the Spellmans". A silly + lighthearted book I picked up at the library. And now I am half way through "Interpreter of Maladies", and really enjoying it. It's such a quiet and thought-provoking book. I have placed a bunch of books on hold at the library. I hope they will be available soon. Anyone reading anything interesting? Let us know!

12::30 Macro Photo

Here's #12 :) I've been using my old Olympus digital camera for the last few macro shots. I don't think they look as good as my macro photos done with my Sony Cyber Shot. Can't wait for that camera to be back. It's so tiny and easy to use. My Olympus is bigger and bulkier and only 5.0 pixels. Only three more weeks till I get it back from the shop!

Today we have a birthday party in the morning for Davis to attend and William has Karate in the afternoon. Friday we have the long awaited playdate with William's favorite friend. Everyday he wakes up and says, "only xx more day till I can play with Ty."  They play so well together.

We slept with the windows open last night. oh so sweet. I swear I slept like a babe. Yea that spring is finally here!
